If content also goes on the back of the card (e.g. rules, barcode, signature panel), a dual-sided printer prints in one pass without manual flipping, a significant time saver at higher volumes. For single-sided cards only (simple passes, membership cards), the cheaper single-sided model is sufficient.
Magnetic stripe writing and encoding of contact chip and contactless (RFID/NFC) cards can be done in the same step as printing, provided the printer has the appropriate encoder module. This is critical for access and ID cards, so clarify your card technology before purchase.
