Its primary role is to support scan-as-you-shop, product information, price checks, product availability lookup, loyalty-related workflows, gift registries and guided shopping applications in retail stores. The device uses a Zebra SE4710 1D / 2D imager with Digimarc support. The scanner is designed to provide fast and simple barcode capture, including poorly printed, smudged or scratched barcodes. Red LED illumination and an LED dot aim pattern support intuitive scanning during shopping. The PS30 includes a 4.7-inch HD colour display with 1280 × 720 resolution and 540 nits brightness. The screen is optically bonded to the touch panel glass, improving clarity and durability. Power is provided by a 3500 mAh PowerPrecision+ rechargeable lithium-ion battery. PowerPrecision+ gives visibility into battery statistics, helping retailers monitor battery charge levels and health. This supports better device availability and helps prevent a device from running out of power during a shopping trip. The PS30 also supports associate workflows. In addition to customer-facing self-scanning, it can be used for online order click-and-collect picking, order pathing, inventory management, price checks, stock lookups, product picking, put-away, shelf replenishment, markdowns, markups and returns processing, depending on the software application. Retailers can customize the PS30 with store branding. The protective screen, protective boot and back label can be used to add brand identity to the device.
