Datalogic Skorpio X40 / X45 Key-Based Android Mobile Computer
Brand - Datalogic

The Datalogic Skorpio X40 / X45 is a next-generation key-based Android mobile computer designed for all-day operations in retail, light warehousing, manufacturing, transportation and logistics environments. It combines physical keyboard productivity, modern Android performance, rugged construction, strong wireless connectivity and flexible handheld or pistol-grip operation. The Skorpio X40 / X45 is designed for users who need reliable scanning, accurate data entry and comfortable full-shift operation. Its compact, well-balanced design helps reduce strain during long shifts, making it suitable for receiving, shipping, picking, replenishment, inventory and shop-floor workflows. A key strength of the Skorpio X40 / X45 is its physical keyboard design. Three keyboard layouts are available: 29-key numeric, 39-key functional numeric and 48-key alphanumeric. The keys are large and well spaced, supporting accurate input with or without gloves. This makes the device a strong fit for workflows where tactile data entry remains more efficient than touch-only operation. The field-detachable handle allows operators to switch between handheld and pistol-grip use. This gives the device flexibility across different tasks: compact handheld operation for data entry and mobile work, and pistol-grip use for more scan-intensive workflows. The Skorpio X40 / X45 supports 2D Standard and Long Range scanning. Scan engine options include the Halogen DE2121-DL 1D / 2D scan engine and the Halogen DE2121-ER Extended Range 1D / 2D scan engine. This makes the family suitable for standard item scanning as well as longer-range barcode reading in warehouse, retail and logistics environments. Datalogic Green Spot technology provides visual good-read confirmation directly on the label. This helps operators keep their eyes on the work and confirm successful scans without constantly checking the display. The Skorpio X40 / X45 is powered by the Qualcomm Dragonwing 4490 octa-core 2.4 GHz processor. It includes 6 GB RAM and 128 GB UFS flash storage, with a Micro SD card slot supporting expansion up to 2 TB. This provides a modern platform for enterprise applications, scanning workflows and fleet deployments. The operating system is Android 15 with GMS and AOSP options, and the platform is upgradeable to Android 19. The device is Android Enterprise Recommended, making it suitable for enterprise deployments that require lifecycle planning, security updates and managed fleet operation. The main distinction between the two models is connectivity. The Skorpio X40 is best positioned for Wi-Fi-based site operations. The Skorpio X45 adds WWAN / cellular connectivity, including 3G / UMTS / HSPA+, LTE-Advanced / 4G+ and 5G NR FR1. It also supports private networks and CBRS for 4G and 5G, making it the better choice for mobile field, outdoor, yard or transport-related workflows. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 / 6E with IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, 2 x 2 MU-MIMO and WPA3 Enterprise 192-bit mode. Bluetooth 5.3 supports Classic Bluetooth and BLE. NFC supports tag types 2 / 3 / 4 / 5, ISO14443-4 A/B, ISO15693, Mifare and Felica, with reader and card emulator functionality. The Skorpio X45 also includes GPS functions. Supported positioning systems are GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and BeiDou, with integrated Assisted-GPS and dual-band GNSS L1 + L5. The Skorpio X45 also includes one Nano SIM and one eSIM, and a barometer for atmospheric pressure / Z-location use cases. The display is a 4.0-inch LCD A-Si IPS panel with WVGA 480 x 800 resolution and 450-nit typical brightness. It is designed for clear visibility indoors and outdoors. The touch panel is a 5-point capacitive multi-touch panel with hardened Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and optical bonding. It supports gloves, stylus operation, water-drop rejection and anti-fingerprint surface finishing. The device is compact for a rugged keyboard terminal. Handheld dimensions are 210 x 75 x 27 mm, while pistol-grip dimensions are 210 x 75 x 155 mm. Weight is 445 g with battery in handheld configuration and 575 g with battery in pistol-grip configuration. Power is supplied by a removable extended lithium-ion battery pack rated at 7,000 mAh typical. Hot Swap protects application data during battery changes and supports uninterrupted 24/7 operations when combined with proper battery rotation. The Skorpio X40 / X45 supports both contact and wireless charging. Wireless charging is WPC Qi EPP compatible and supports 10 W charging. It helps reduce contact wear, debris build-up and maintenance associated with traditional pin charging. A major operational advantage is backward compatibility with Skorpio X5 docks and accessories. This allows organizations already using Skorpio X5 infrastructure to upgrade devices without necessarily replacing their complete docking and charging environment. The device is built for demanding daily use. It has IP65 and IP67 sealing with battery installed. It withstands multiple 2.4 m / 8 ft drops to concrete at ambient temperature and multiple 1.8 m / 6 ft drops to concrete across the operating temperature range according to MIL-STD 810H. It also withstands 3,000 tumbles from 1.0 m at room temperature, meeting and exceeding IEC 60068-2-32 Procedure 2. The operating temperature range is -20°C to 50°C, with storage and transport temperature from -30°C to 70°C. ESD protection is 15 kV air discharge and 8 kV contact discharge. The enclosure is resistant to chemical cleansers and industrial oils, including sodium hypochlorite solution, ammonia-based glass cleaners, 70% ethyl alcohol, 70% isopropyl alcohol and 3% hydrogen peroxide. The device includes a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and user-controllable LED flash / torch mode. This can support documentation, proof of condition, damaged-goods capture and workflow applications beyond barcode scanning. Audio features include two microphones with noise cancellation and a loudspeaker for hands-free data calls and audio applications. These features support team communication, voice-enabled workflows and operational collaboration. Sensors include programmable vibration, 3-axis accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor and magnetometer. The Skorpio X45 also includes a barometer. Interfaces include High Speed USB 3.2 Gen 1 host and client through Type-C, Super Speed USB 2.0 through bottom Type-C I/O and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity through a multi-slot dock. Software support is provided by the Datalogic Mobility Suite. Protection tools include Shield for Android security updates, Launcher for kiosk mode, Enterprise Browser and Integrity Kit.
