The Datalogic PowerScan 9100 Series is a rugged industrial barcode scanner family designed for demanding 1D scanning applications in manufacturing, warehouse, logistics and shop floor environments. The series combines a laser-like green scanning line with the advantages of linear imaging technology, delivering strong 1D reading performance with industrial reliability. The PowerScan 9100 Series is not a 2D scanner family. Its main purpose is high-performance 1D barcode reading in harsh industrial environments where durability, long reading range, clear aiming and reliable feedback are essential. The series includes three main model directions. The PD9130 is the corded version. The PBT9100 is the cordless version with Bluetooth wireless technology. The PM9100 is the cordless version using Datalogic’s STAR Cordless System 2.0, a proprietary narrow-band radio system designed for industrial wireless communication. A key feature of the PowerScan 9100 Series is its new linear imaging technology with a green laser-like scanning line. This gives operators the familiar precision and visibility of a laser-style aiming line while retaining the benefits of a linear imager. The green line helps users target 1D barcodes quickly and accurately in industrial workflows. The scanner family is designed for strong 1D decoding. It supports GS1 DataBar linear codes, UPC / EAN, UPC / EAN add-ons, UPC / EAN coupons, ISBN, Code 128, EAN 128, Code 39, Code 39 Full ASCII, Code 39 CIP, Code 32, Codabar, Interleaved 2 of 5, IATA, Industrial 2 of 5, Standard 2 of 5, Code 11, MSI, Plessey, Code 93, Follet 2/5, Code 4, Code 5, Datalogic 2 of 5 and Codablock F. The PowerScan 9100 Series delivers high-resolution 1D reading, with decoding capability down to 2.5 mils. Typical reading ranges include Code 39 5 mils from 3.0 to 32.0 cm, Code 39 10 mils from 2.0 to 66.0 cm, Code 39 20 mils from 3.0 to 110.0 cm and Code 39 40 mils from 3.0 to 230.0 cm. EAN 13 codes can typically be read from 2.0 to 61.0 cm, depending on print quality, contrast and ambient conditions. Good-read feedback is designed for industrial environments. The scanners include Datalogic 3GL / Three Green Lights feedback, with Green Spot confirmation directly on the code and dual Good Read LEDs. A loud beeper provides additional confirmation, helping operators work efficiently even in noisy production or warehouse areas. The PowerScan 9100 Series is built for harsh conditions. It withstands 50 drops from 2.0 m / 6.6 ft onto concrete, offers IP65 sealing against dust and water, supports 20 kV ESD air discharge protection and operates from -20°C to 50°C. The scanners are also immune to normal office and facility lighting as well as direct exposure to sunlight. The rugged housing and ergonomic shape are designed for long shifts and repeated scanning. The scanner body measures 21.2 x 11.0 x 7.4 cm. The corded PD9100 / PD9130 version weighs 340 g, while cordless PBT9100 and PM9100 versions weigh 405 g. PM9100 display and keypad models weigh 435 g. The PBT9100 cordless model uses Bluetooth 3.0 certified Class 1 wireless technology. It supports HID and SPP profiles, data encryption, scanner authentication and up to seven scanners connected to the same base station. Open-air radio range is up to 100 m / 328 ft in Class 1 operation. The PM9100 cordless model uses Datalogic STAR Cordless System 2.0 with 433 MHz or 910 MHz radio options. It supports point-to-point and multi-point configurations, two-way communication, seamless roaming and up to 16 readers per radio receiver. Depending on frequency and data rate, open-air range can extend from 50 m / 164 ft up to 400 m / 1,312 ft in specified 910 MHz configurations. The PM9100 is available in multiple configurations to match different industrial workflows. Customers can choose a basic cordless model, a version with display and 4-key keypad, or a version with display and full 16-key alphanumeric keypad. The display uses a white backlight and supports a default layout of 6 lines x 21 columns. Cordless models use a user-replaceable 3350 mAh lithium-ion battery. The scanners support more than 60,000 reads per charge in continuous reading. Battery charging takes 4.5 hours with external power or 10 hours with host power. A quick 3-second battery replacement, combined with single or multi-slot battery chargers, supports continuous operation with minimal interruption. The cordless PBT9100 and PM9100 scanners can also be mounted on a forklift with a Vehicle Mount Terminal. This makes the series suitable for warehouse and logistics environments where operators need mobile scanning directly from forklifts or industrial vehicles. All models provide multi-interface support, including RS-232, Keyboard Wedge and USB. USB options include OEM USB, USB COM and USB HID Keyboard. Optional Ethernet connectivity is available in standard and industrial versions for PBT9100 and PM9100 deployments. Typical applications include manufacturing shop floor processes, component traceability, work-in-progress tracking, sub-assembly, quality control, time and cost analysis, machine setup control, in-line inventory control, warehouse and logistics centers, shipping and receiving, parcel preparation, picking, put-away, automatic sorting backup and end-of-line sorting. Configuration and deployment are supported by Datalogic Aladdin, which provides a user-friendly interface for startup and device programming. OPOS and JavaPOS utilities are available, and Remote Host Download is available on request.
