The ZD611R is not a standard label printer. It is an RFID-capable desktop printer / encoder that can print and encode compatible UHF RFID media. The printer uses Zebra’s integrated RE40 RFID reader / encoder module. It supports UHF EPC Gen 2 V2.1, ISO / IEC 18000-63 and RAIN RFID protocols. This enables the ZD611R to support RFID applications across retail, food and beverage, healthcare and hospitality environments. A key advantage of the ZD611R is Adaptive Encoding Technology. This simplifies RFID setup and calibration and helps eliminate complex RFID placement guidelines. In practice, this gives users more media flexibility and makes RFID label and tag production easier to deploy than traditional RFID printing workflows that require stricter inlay positioning. The ZD611R can print and encode RFID tags with a minimum pitch of 0.6 in / 16 mm. RFID job monitoring tools help track RFID performance, while RFID logs record RFID data with timestamps for full traceability. RFID ZPL commands support compatibility with existing Zebra printer environments, and the printer also supports industry-standard, multi-vendor chip-based serialization. The ZD611R supports both thermal transfer and direct thermal printing. Thermal transfer is useful where the printed label, tag or wristband needs stronger durability, while direct thermal is suitable for shorter-lifecycle applications where ribbon-free printing is preferred. The printer offers 203 dpi resolution as standard, with optional 300 dpi resolution for sharper print output on smaller labels, tags and wristbands. Maximum print speed is 8 in / 203 mm per second at 203 dpi and 6 in / 152 mm per second at 300 dpi. Maximum print width is 2.2 in / 56 mm at 203 dpi and 2.13 in / 54 mm at 300 dpi. The ZD611R includes a 4.3-inch full-color LCD touch display with an intuitive menu system. The interface supports step-by-step setup wizards, troubleshooting animations, media-loading guidance, calibration guidance and standalone printing applications. The display can also change color to show printer status at a glance, while color-coded touch points help users handle media changes more quickly. The ZD611R supports ZPL and EPL printer languages, allowing compatibility with existing Zebra label formats and applications. Zebra DNA Printer Emulations can also emulate printer languages associated with other brands, helping simplify replacement projects where companies are moving from mixed printer fleets to Zebra. Connectivity is strong for a compact desktop printer. Standard interfaces include Ethernet, USB 2.0 and USB host. Serial communication is optional on the ZD611R. Optional wireless communication includes dual-radio Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, including 802.11ac with Bluetooth 4.1 or 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 with Bluetooth 5.3. The printer can also be configured through Zebra’s mobile printer setup app using Bluetooth Low Energy. The ZD611R runs Link-OS and is supported by Zebra DNA for Printers. Ribbon widths for the ZD611R range from 33 mm to 58 mm. Options include dispenser / peeler, cutter, wireless communication kits, optional battery and ZKDU keyboard display unit for standalone printing. The battery option can support a full shift of printing at maximum print speed and supports media-handling options, making the ZD611R more flexible for cart-based or workflow-adjacent printing.
