The Zebra RS6100 is a high-performance Bluetooth wearable scanner designed for demanding hands-free barcode scanning workflows in warehouses, distribution centres, manufacturing plants, transportation and logistics operations, and retail back-of-store environments. It is Zebra’s most powerful and versatile wearable scanner, combining advanced-range barcode capture, multiple wearing styles, rugged construction, removable batteries and flexible cordless or corded operation. The RS6100 is not a standalone mobile computer. It does not run Android applications and does not include a display. It is a wearable barcode scanner that connects to a host device, such as a Zebra handheld mobile computer, wearable computer, tablet, vehicle mount computer, or a compatible Bluetooth smartphone, tablet or PC. This makes it suitable for organisations that want to add fast, ergonomic hands-free scanning to existing host-based workflows. A key strength of the RS6100 is scanning range. The device uses the Zebra SE55 1D / 2D Advanced Range scan engine with IntelliFocus technology. It is designed to capture barcodes from close range up to high warehouse racks, with the supplied material positioning the scanner for capture from approximately 5.08 cm to 12.2 m, depending on barcode size, type, print quality and conditions. The RS6100 is compact and lightweight for its performance class. It measures 66.6 mm × 32.7 mm × 21 mm and weighs 70 g with the standard battery or 76 g with the extended battery. The device is significantly smaller and lighter than the earlier RS6000, helping reduce worker fatigue during long shifts. One of the most important practical advantages is wearing flexibility. The RS6100 supports five interchangeable wearing styles. Users can choose an enterprise hand mount, single-finger mount, double-trigger single-finger mount, back-of-hand mount or retracting lanyard trigger. This allows the scanner to be adapted to different users, gloves, tasks and ergonomics preferences. The enterprise hand mount provides a secure custom fit for right- or left-hand use and allows the scanner position to be adjusted for the best balance and scan angle. The single-finger trigger is suitable for users who prefer ring-style scanning, while the double trigger allows workers to change hands without removing the trigger. The back-of-hand mount is ambidextrous and keeps the scanner out of the palm, making it useful for workers who need to grip items naturally. The retracting lanyard trigger keeps the scanner available while staying out of the way when not in use. The scanner supports manual ambidextrous triggering, and all trigger options support continuous scanning mode. Optional vibrating triggers can provide additional feedback for errors or exceptions, allowing workers to respond quickly without needing to look away from the task. The modular two-piece design separates the trigger assembly from the scanner body. Since only the trigger assembly touches the worker’s skin, companies can assign personal trigger assemblies to individual workers for hygiene while sharing scanner bodies. Trigger assemblies, batteries and mounts are shared with the RS5100 platform, making upgrades and mixed deployments easier to manage. Power options are flexible. The RS6100 can operate cordlessly with removable PowerPrecision+ lithium-ion batteries, or in corded battery-free mode using selected Zebra corded adapters. Battery options include a 480 mAh standard battery and a 735 mAh extended battery. The standard battery is positioned for a full shift, while the extended battery supports longer shifts and freezer operation. Because the batteries are removable, workers can swap in a charged battery instead of taking the scanner out of service for charging. The RS6100 is built for demanding environments. With the standard battery, it operates from 0°C to 50°C. With the extended battery, it supports operation from -30°C to 50°C, making it suitable for freezers, coolers and cold-chain workflows. Storage temperature is -40°C to 60°C with battery and -40°C to 70°C without battery. The scanner is sealed to IP65 according to IEC 60529, supports multiple 1.8 m drops to concrete across the operating temperature range and is rated for 1,000 tumbles from 0.5 m. It is designed for use in warehouse aisles, freezers, coolers, docks and outdoor environments where workers may face dust, water, heat, cold, rain or snow. Bluetooth connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.2 with Bluetooth Low Energy, Class 1 and Class 2 support. Supported profiles include Serial Port Profile, Human Interface Device Profile and Service Discovery Application Profile. NFC tap-to-pair allows simple pairing with supported NFC-enabled Zebra devices without opening Bluetooth settings or scanning a pairing barcode. The RS6100 also includes Wi-Fi Friendly Mode, which helps reduce potential interference between Bluetooth operation on the scanner and Wi-Fi connections on nearby mobile devices. This is important in warehouse and logistics environments where large numbers of wireless devices may operate simultaneously. User feedback is provided through four programmable RGB LEDs located on the back of the scanner and an audible beeper rated up to 85 dBA at 10 cm. Programmable line-of-sight LEDs can confirm successful scans, guide users through tasks or provide application-specific feedback. A user-accessible restore key supports emergency warm boot and Bluetooth reconnect after disconnect timeout. The RS6100 supports high-capacity backroom charging and fleet management.
