Zebra RS2100 Bluetooth Wearable Scanner

Zebra RS2100 Bluetooth Wearable Scanner – 1/1

The Zebra RS2100 is an ultra-compact enterprise wearable scanner designed to add hands-free barcode scanning to warehouse, retail, hospitality, manufacturing and transportation workflows. It is positioned as the world’s smallest enterprise wearable scanner, created for workers who scan hundreds or thousands of items per shift and need a lightweight, comfortable and easy-to-use solution. The RS2100 is not a standalone mobile computer and does not run Android applications. It is a Bluetooth wearable scanner that pairs with a host device such as a Zebra mobile computer, Zebra wearable computer, Apple or Android smartphone or tablet, PC or other compatible host. This makes it a practical way to add hands-free scanning to existing workflows without replacing the mobile devices already in use. The main ergonomic advantage of the RS2100 is its back-of-hand design. Unlike wearable scanners that cover the palm or use a strap across the palm, the RS2100 leaves the entire palm free. This allows workers to grip products, boxes, totes and packages more naturally and securely while scanning. In picking, packing, sorting and replenishment tasks, this can improve comfort, reduce handling friction and help workers maintain productivity throughout the shift. The scanner is extremely small and lightweight. It measures 52 mm × 35.5 mm × 14.6 mm and weighs only 31 g. With a height of just 14.6 mm, it has a very low profile, making it suitable for picking in tight spaces, reaching into bins or shelves and handling goods without the scanner getting in the way. The RS2100 is designed to be simple to deploy and use. Workers can intuitively wear the scanner, and the mount is designed to fit all hand sizes. Businesses only need to choose right-hand or left-hand versions, rather than manage multiple mount sizes. The embedded battery also simplifies fleet management because there are no separate scanner batteries to manage. Barcode capture is handled by the Zebra SE4770 1D / 2D standard-range imaging engine. With PRZM Intelligent Imaging technology, the RS2100 can capture common 1D and 2D barcodes quickly, including damaged, dirty or poorly printed codes. The scanner supports omnidirectional scanning, strong motion tolerance and a wide field of view, helping workers scan barcodes quickly without carefully aligning the scanner and code. The optical resolution is 1280 × 800 pixels. The scanner supports 360° roll, ±60° pitch and ±60° skew. The aiming element is a 655 nm laser and illumination is provided by a Hyper Red 660 nm LED. The field of view is 48° horizontal and 30° vertical. Ambient light immunity is listed up to 107,639 lux, supporting use even in direct sunlight. Supported barcode types include common 1D symbologies such as Code 39, Code 128, Code 93, Codabar, Code 11, MSI, UPC / EAN, Interleaved 2 of 5, Korean 3 of 5, GS1 DataBar and Base 32. Supported 2D symbologies include PDF417, Micro PDF417, Composite Codes, TLC-39, Aztec, DataMatrix, MaxiCode, QR Code, Micro QR, Han Xin and postal codes. OCR-A and OCR-B are also supported. The typical working ranges depend on barcode type, size, print quality, contrast and lighting. For example, the supplied specification lists UPCA 100% from 4.1 cm to 63.2 cm, Code 128 15 mil from 6.1 cm to 70.6 cm, Code 39 20 mil from 4.1 cm to 91.7 cm and QR Code 20 mil from 2.8 cm to 44.5 cm. These values make the RS2100 suitable for close to standard-range wearable scanning, not long-range warehouse rack scanning. Wireless connectivity is based on Bluetooth 5.2 with Bluetooth Low Energy support. The device supports Bluetooth Class 1 and Class 2, with Serial Port Profile, Human Interface Device Profile and Service Discovery Application Profile. NFC tap-to-pair support makes pairing with compatible host devices quick and simple. For non-NFC hosts, Zebra Scan-to-Connect can pair the RS2100 by scanning an on-screen pairing barcode. The RS2100 can also be used in packing station environments. With Zebra’s Bluetooth Adapter, the scanner can connect via USB to a PC. Up to seven RS2100 scanners can be paired simultaneously to a non-mobile host, which can reduce the need to purchase a separate mobile computer for every packing worker. The RS2100 uses a 480 mAh embedded lithium-ion battery pack. Since the battery is embedded, it is not a hot-swappable scanner battery system. This keeps the device simple and lightweight, but the scanner must be charged as a unit. User feedback is provided through two RGB LEDs located on the back side of the device and an audible beeper rated up to 85 dBA at 10 cm from the beeper port. These feedback options help workers confirm successful scans without looking away from the task. The scanner is built for daily enterprise use. It operates from 0°C to 50°C and can be stored from -40°C to 60°C. It is sealed to IP54 according to IEC 60529, supports multiple 1.8 m drops to concrete across the operating temperature range and is rated for 1,000 tumbles from 0.5 m. ESD protection is listed as ±15 kV air discharge and ±8 kV contact discharge. Device Tracker is available as an optional licensed Mobility DNA tool. It can help locate missing RS2100 scanners and reduce the time spent searching for misplaced wearable devices. The virtual tether feature can help prevent workers from leaving behind either the scanner or the paired mobile computer. Zebra DNA tools support deployment and management. 123Scan helps configure the scanner, set up data formatting and perform firmware updates. Wi-Fi Friendly Mode helps reduce potential Bluetooth interference with Wi-Fi networks by ensuring the RS2100 operates on channels that are not shared with the Wi-Fi environment. These tools make the RS2100 easier to integrate into business workflows. Typical warehouse applications include picking, sorting, receiving, put-away, replenishment, packing and reverse logistics. Retail applications include in-store inventory, in-store picking, price management, store order pickup and delivery, and online order fulfilment. Hospitality applications include ticket and reservation scanning. Manufacturing use cases include inventory put-away, line-side replenishment, work-in-process tracking, quality control, safety testing and asset management. Transportation and logistics workflows include sorting, loading and unloading. Overall, the Zebra RS2100 is a compact, affordable and ergonomic wearable scanner for organisations that want to add hands-free barcode scanning to existing host devices. Its strongest value lies in its extremely small size, bare-palm back-of-hand wearing design, SE4770 scan engine, Bluetooth flexibility, NFC tap-to-pair, compatibility with many host device types and practical ruggedness for everyday enterprise scanning.
