The SATO DR3 Series is a versatile 3-inch tag printer designed for businesses that need reliable printing on tags, tickets, labels and thicker media formats. Unlike a standard desktop label printer, the DR3 is built around tag printing flexibility. With support for media thickness from 0.07 to 0.265 mm, it is well suited to applications where the media is heavier than typical label stock and where stable feeding is important. The DR308e supports both direct thermal and thermal transfer printing. The printer can handle media rolls up to 250 mm in outside diameter, which supports longer print runs and reduces the frequency of media changes compared with smaller desktop printers. The DR3 supports continuous, tear-off, cutter and dispenser workflows depending on configuration. Optional accessories such as cutter, stacker, external rewinder, dispenser, keypad, real-time clock and SATO Label Gallery help adapt the printer to different operational setups. These options are particularly valuable in tag production environments where printed output may need to be cut, stacked, dispensed or rewound as part of a controlled workflow. Connectivity is handled through optional plug-in interfaces, including IEEE1284, Centronics parallel, RS232C, high-speed RS232C, USB, LAN and wireless LAN 802.11b/g. The printer also includes standard external port connectivity and an RS-232C D-SUB9 interface dedicated for keypad use. Support for SBPL, the SATO Barcode Printer Language, allows integration into SATO-based labeling environments and existing business systems. The DR3 Series supports a broad range of 1D and 2D barcode symbologies, including Code 128, GS1-128, GS1 DataBar, PDF417, MaxiCode, QR Code and GS1 Data Matrix. This makes it suitable not only for visual tags and tickets, but also for barcode-based identification, item tracking, logistics processing and retail product management.
