The SATO CG2 Series is a compact 2-inch desktop label printer range designed for reliable everyday labeling in healthcare, retail, hospitality, food processing, transport, manufacturing and office environments. Available in 203 dpi and 305 dpi versions, the CG2 Series combines small footprint, flexible media handling and practical connectivity for applications where label quality and ease of use are important but a larger industrial printer would be unnecessary. The series supports both direct thermal and thermal transfer printing, depending on the selected model. This allows users to choose a suitable solution for short-life labels such as receipts, wristbands, shipping labels or price labels, as well as for ribbon-based labels where greater durability is required. With a maximum print width of 56 mm, the CG2 Series is particularly suited to compact product labels, shelf labels, specimen labels, wristbands, small asset labels and office identification labels. The CG208 provides 203 dpi resolution for standard barcode and text printing, while the CG212 offers 305 dpi for applications where smaller characters, dense barcodes or more detailed label layouts must remain clear. Both models support print speeds up to 100 mm per second, providing efficient output for front-office, counter, laboratory and light production workflows without the size and complexity of an industrial label printer. The compact housing makes the CG2 Series easy to place at workstations, reception desks, laboratory benches, retail counters or packaging stations. Its casing includes an anti-microbial substance tested according to the JIS Z2801 standard, making the printer particularly relevant for environments where regular cleaning and controlled handling are important, such as healthcare, food-related processing and customer-facing work areas. This feature should be understood as support for cleaner equipment surfaces, not as a substitute for normal hygiene procedures. The printer supports roll and fan-fold die-cut labels, continuous media, plain paper face stock and synthetic materials. It can handle media widths from 12 to 60 mm and offers support for tear-off, cutter and dispenser workflows depending on the selected configuration. Optional accessories such as cutter, dispenser, keypad, unwinder and NiceLabel support allow the printer to be adapted to a range of practical label production tasks. Connectivity is available in USB plus RS-232C or USB plus LAN configurations. The USB + RS-232C version can also support an external SATO wireless LAN option. This enables the CG2 Series to be integrated into local workstation setups, retail or healthcare systems, networked label printing environments and selected mobile or cable-restricted installations. SATO SBPL support provides a familiar integration path for systems already using SATO printer language. The CG2 Series supports a broad range of 1D and 2D barcode formats, including Code 128, GS1-128, GS1 DataBar, PDF417, QR Code, MaxiCode and GS1 DataMatrix. This makes it suitable for compact identification and traceability labels across a range of operational processes.
