The QuickScan 2500 Series is a step above 1D-only entry-level scanners. It supports omnidirectional reading of 1D, 2D, postal, stacked and composite barcodes, Dot Codes and selected Digital Watermark codes, depending on model configuration. The QuickScan 2500 auto-discriminates standard 1D codes including GS1 DataBar linear codes. It also reads 2D codes such as Aztec Code, China Han Xin Code, Data Matrix, MaxiCode, Micro QR Code, QR Code and Dot Code. Postal codes and stacked codes such as PDF417, MicroPDF417, MacroPDF and GS1 DataBar composites are also supported. Digital Watermarking through Digimarc Barcodes and OCR-A, OCR-B and MICR are supported on QD2500, QM2500 and QBT2500 models only. These capabilities should not be positioned as universal across the entire series if the QW2500 is included. Image capture is supported in BMP, JPEG and TIFF formats, with grayscale options of 256, 16 and 2 levels. This gives the scanner additional flexibility beyond basic barcode reading. Reading performance depends on model configuration. QD2500, QM2500 and QBT2500 models support 3 mil resolution for 1D linear codes and PDF417, 5 mil Data Matrix and 6.7 mil QR Code. The QW2500 supports 3 mil 1D, 5 mil PDF417, 6 mil Data Matrix and 6.7 mil QR Code. Typical reading ranges for QD2500, QM2500 and QBT2500 include Code 39 5 mils from 0.5 to 25 cm, EAN / UPCA 13 mils from 0.5 to 51 cm, Data Matrix 10 mils from 0.5 to 21.5 cm and QR Code 20 mils from 0 to 37 cm. The QW2500 offers slightly shorter ranges, with EAN / UPCA 13 mils from 1 to 40 cm and Data Matrix 10 mils from 1 to 15.5 cm. The scanner is designed for everyday business durability. It withstands repeated drops from 1.5 m / 5.0 ft onto concrete, supports 10 million trigger hits, offers 16 kV ESD air discharge protection and has IP52 sealing. Operating temperature is 0 to 50°C, with storage and transport temperature from -40 to 70°C. The physical design is compact and easy to handle. Corded models measure 14.8 x 6.8 x 12.6 cm and weigh 145 g. Cordless models measure 15.9 x 6.8 x 10.7 cm and weigh 206.5 g with battery included. QD2500 models are available in black or white, while QW2500 is available in black. Configuration and deployment are supported by Datalogic Aladdin 3.0. The configurator provides a modern GUI, search functions and an online version that can generate programming barcodes to scan directly from a smartphone. JavaPOS and OPOS utilities are available, and Remote Host Download can help reduce service costs and improve operations.
