The Datalogic Matrix 320 is a high-performance fixed-mount industrial 2D imager designed to empower traceability applications in manufacturing, intralogistics, automated warehouses, distribution centers, retail logistics and shop-floor automation. It is positioned above the Matrix 120 and Matrix 220 when larger field of view, greater depth of field, stronger processing power and more flexible lighting options are required. The Matrix 320 is not a handheld scanner and not a mobile computer. It is a stationary industrial image-based code reader for production lines, automated traceability stations, print & apply verification, intralogistics systems, distribution centers, pallet handling and component identification. The Matrix 320 supports both 1D and 2D code reading. It is suitable for Data Matrix, QR Code and other industrial 2D traceability applications, including Direct Part Marking when the correct lens, lighting and accessory configuration are selected. This makes it a strong fit for customers who need more than classic 1D laser reading. Typical manufacturing applications include Direct Part Marking reading, component and part traceability, automatic work-in-progress traceability, print & apply, secondary packaging traceability and end-of-line traceability. Target manufacturing sectors include automotive, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, electronics and general manufacturing. In intralogistics, transportation and logistics, and retail logistics, the Matrix 320 supports inbound processes, pallet picking by forklift, print & apply verification for re-labelling, depalletizing, part traceability, automatic and manual order fulfilment, automatic and manual palletizing, cage preparation, pallet traceability, pallet wrapping, outbound retrieval by forklift and reverse logistics. A key advantage of the Matrix 320 is its 2.0 megapixel CMOS global shutter sensor with 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 16:9 form factor. This wide-format sensor provides an extra-large horizontal field of view, allowing the reader to cover wider application areas and compete against higher-megapixel readers in certain horizontal field-of-view scenarios. The frame rate is 60 frames per second. This supports fast image capture and reliable decoding in demanding industrial applications where objects may move quickly or where multiple codes must be processed efficiently. The Matrix 320 is available with Standard and Premium processing platforms. Standard models use a 4-core CPU at 900 MHz, while Premium models use a 4-core CPU at 1600 MHz. The Premium platform is designed to increase processing power and reduce decoding time compared with the standard version, improving throughput and multi-recipe handling. The Matrix 320 Premium can capture and process more images within the same time period than the standard version. This is valuable in high-speed production, intralogistics automation, distribution centers and applications where product variants or recipes change frequently. Electronic focus adjustment is one of the strongest operational benefits of the Liquid Lens models. It reduces installation time and allows easier reconfiguration when production lines change. This supports Industry 4.0-style flexibility, where job changes and product format changes should be handled quickly and remotely. Liquid Lens models are available with 6 mm, 9 mm and 16 mm optics. The 6 mm lens provides a 48-degree viewing angle and supports reading from 50 to 550 mm. The 9 mm lens provides a 34-degree viewing angle and supports reading from 35 to 1000 mm. The 16 mm lens provides a 20-degree viewing angle and supports reading from 70 to 1500 mm. C-Mount models provide maximum optical configurability and high intrinsic depth of field. Available C-Mount lens options include 4 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm, 12 mm, 16 mm, 25 mm and 35 mm, with viewing angles from 68 degrees down to 9 degrees. C-Mount models use manual focus adjustment and are best suited when the application requires a very specific optical configuration. Lighting flexibility is another major advantage of the Matrix 320. Liquid Lens versions support internal illuminator color options including blue, red and white light on 9 mm and 16 mm models. Internal illuminator power is available in High Power 14 LED and Very High Power 36 LED configurations. C-Mount models support internal illuminator colors including blue, white, IR and UV, with Very High Power 36 LED illumination. These lighting options help solve a wide range of industrial reading challenges, including difficult surfaces, different label materials, high-speed movement and specialized traceability requirements. The Matrix 320 is designed to handle both label reading and high-resolution DPM applications. Its smart configurable lighting, wide field of view and depth of field help improve performance on challenging codes and industrial surfaces. Polarizing filters are available as front cover accessories. These are useful for reflective surfaces where glare could reduce decoding performance. ESD-safe front cover accessories are also available on supported models, while YAG laser protection is available as a filter accessory compatible with ESD covers. Flexible cables are available for robotic arm and moving installation applications. The Matrix 320 supports code quality metrics. For 1D codes, it supports ISO/IEC 15416. For 2D codes, it supports ISO/IEC 16022 / 18004, ISO/IEC 29158 / AIM-DPM and ISO/IEC 15415. This allows the reader to support not only decoding, but also quality-control and traceability validation workflows. The device is built for demanding industrial environments. It has an aluminum case with a plastic protective window cover and IP65 / IP67 protection according to EN60529. Storage temperature is -20°C to 70°C. Operating temperature depends on model: Liquid Lens models are listed from 0°C to 45°C, C-Mount models from -10°C to 50°C, and some part numbers from 0°C to 50°C. Sulfur gas resistance is available for all models according to ISO EN 60068-2-43. This is useful in harsh manufacturing environments where corrosive gases may be present. The Matrix 320 uses rotating connector options for easier mechanical integration. Dimensions depend on illuminator and connector configuration. Liquid Lens models measure 108.7 x 54 x 55.5 mm with the connector at 0 degrees, or 88 x 54 x 75.6 mm with the connector at 90 degrees. Larger 36 LED / C-Mount configurations are correspondingly larger. Weight depends on configuration. Liquid Lens 14 LED models weigh 380 g, while Liquid Lens 36 LED models weigh 650 g. C-Mount 36 LED assemblies are modular, with separate reader body, illuminator adapter and illuminator components. Industrial connectivity is broad. The Matrix 320 includes Ethernet 10 / 100 / 1000 Mbit/s with TCP/IP, UDP, FTP, SFTP and fieldbus support for PROFINET IO, EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP. It also supports serial RS-232 / RS-422 full duplex up to 115.2 Kbit/s, auxiliary RS-232 up to 115.2 Kbit/s and OPC UA. OPC UA support makes the Matrix 320 suitable for Industry 4.0 integration scenarios where standardized data exchange and industrial interoperability are required. Reader networking is supported through Datalogic ID-NET. Connectivity modes include Pass Through, Master / Slave and Ethernet point-to-point. This allows Matrix 320 readers to be used in single-reader applications and in more complex multi-reader systems. Digital I/O includes two optocoupled and polarity-insensitive inputs with a maximum voltage of 30 VDC and maximum input current of 10 mA. Outputs include three configurable NPN, PNP and push-pull short-circuit-protected outputs. When using a CBX connection box, the first two outputs are optocoupled. The user interface includes a laser cross red projection aiming system, configurable 360-degree multicolor visual feedback, Green Spot and Red Spot LEDs, X-PRESS Human Machine Interface, beeper, X-PRESS push button and seven LEDs for status, communication, trigger, good-read, ready, power and network indication. The configurable 360-degree multicolor feedback is especially useful in industrial environments where operators need fast visual confirmation from different viewing angles. It helps make reading status more visible and reduces the need to check software or remote screens for every event. Monitoring and diagnostics are supported by a web monitoring interface. The Matrix 320 also includes new web Device Discovery to quickly access all readers in the network. Performance analysis is supported by a new generation of FTP image saving, helping users review images and diagnose reading issues more effectively. Device programming is handled through DL.CODE Windows-based software via Ethernet or serial interface. DL.CODE includes JavaScript output formatting, Serial Host Mode programming and X-PRESS HMI support. Automatic learning and setup functions help simplify configuration and reduce installation time.
