The Datalogic AV900 is a high-performance industrial 2D image-based reader designed for demanding logistics, distribution, retail automation and airport baggage handling applications. It is built for high-speed transportation systems, conveyor-based identification, static reading applications, dimension-weigh-scan systems, manual sorting, automated sorting and unattended data capture solutions. The AV900 is not a handheld scanner and not a mobile computer. It is a fixed industrial image-based reader for automated data capture stations, logistics conveyors, airport baggage systems, manual conveyor loading, overhead scanning, order verification and reverse logistics workflows. The AV900 uses a 9 megapixel CMOS image sensor and supports image acquisition at up to 32 frames per second. Compared with the AV500, the AV900 provides higher image resolution while keeping the same logistics-oriented architecture and system concept. This makes it suitable when the application needs more image detail for barcode reading, OCR, videocoding or image saving. The reader supports dynamic, sequential and software-adjustable focus. These focusing methods provide extended depth of field and help the AV900 adapt to different object heights, label positions, reading distances and application layouts. This is especially important in logistics and airport environments where cartons, totes, parcels or baggage items can vary significantly in size and position. The AV900 supports 25 mm and 35 mm C-Mount lens options. The correct lens and focus configuration should be selected according to conveyor width, object height, code size, label position and the required field of view. A key advantage of the AV900 is continuous frame acquisition with no-flashing integrated illumination. Integrated white or red illumination is available. This makes the reader suitable not only for unattended conveyor systems, but also for operator-attended applications such as manual object presentation in overhead scanning mode or manual conveyor loading. Compared with flashing illumination systems, continuous no-flash lighting can be more comfortable in areas where operators work near the reading station. This makes it suitable for parcel labels, shipping labels, cartons, totes, baggage tags and logistics documents that may contain several different code types. Supported 1D and stacked codes include Code 128 / GS1-128, Code 39, Code 32, MSI, Standard 2 of 5, Matrix 2 of 5, Interleaved 2 of 5, Codabar, Code 93, Pharmacode, EAN-8 / EAN-13, UPC-A / UPC-E, GS1 DataBar family and PDF417 / Micro PDF417. Supported 2D codes include Data Matrix ECC 200, including standard, GS1 and direct marking variants, QR Code, including standard and direct marking variants, Micro QR Code and MaxiCode. Postal code support includes Aztec Code Postal, Australia Post, Royal Mail 4 State Customer, Kix Code, Japan Post, PLANET, POSTNET, POSTNET with BB, Intelligent Mail and Swedish Post. PackTrack capability is an important logistics feature. It allows the AV900 to minimize the gap between objects and increase system productivity by supporting object tracking and code assignment in conveyor-based applications. The AV900 includes FPGA hardware acceleration for real-time image processing. This helps the reader process images efficiently in demanding logistics, airport and distribution workflows. Captured images can be stored on-board and optionally transferred to external systems through integrated Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. Multiple-format image saving is supported, from full-definition images to highly compressed JPEG files. This is valuable for diagnostics, traceability, dispute resolution, OCR, videocoding, extended ID workflows and performance analysis. The AV900 is suitable for transportation and logistics applications such as automated sorting, manual sorting, dimension-weigh-scan systems, non-conveyable auto-dimension systems, carton and tote traceability, OCR and videocoding, and extended ID and image saving. In distribution and retail environments, the AV900 supports order fulfilment and verification, multimedia sorting and reverse logistics. In airport environments, it is suitable for baggage handling systems and automated tag reading. System performance is supported by an Intel Pentium quad-core processor, 8 GB RAM, 32 GB eMMC flash storage and Linux operating system. The real-time clock supports time and date stamping under software control or synchronization with a time server. Connectivity includes two Ethernet TCP/IP interfaces and two serial communication interfaces. The AV900 can interface directly with PROFINET or EtherNet/IP enabled PLCs. This makes it suitable for integration into industrial automation and logistics control systems. The reader uses SyncNet technology with Master / Slave architecture, allowing multiple devices to be networked in one solution through a simplified interface. It uses an A380 die-cast aluminum chassis and has IP65 protection. The all-metal integrated illumination housing is designed to withstand cleaning with harsh cleaners, supporting use in demanding industrial environments.
